New England Telephone & Telegraph created an indexed timeline of telephone history for the region sometime around the early 1980s. It appears that there may be some different versions out there in various libraries and archives that end earlier than the version provided here – this one came from the Jasper N. Keller Pioneers (TelecomPioneers Chapter # 33), an industry volunteer/service organization covering northern New England. I am guessing that this document was the result of one person’s research, but none of the copies I’ve seen so far name any individuals as authors. This is a great resource for tracing the development of telephone service in a particular town or region in New England.
